Free alternative to Orbit
SBU / 01 / subscriptions · App Store facts checked on October 17, 2026
Orbit is a subscription tracker: you download it free, then many features ask for Orbit Plus, which you pay for. Sbu Subscriptions does the same one thing, all free: it tells you what you spend on subscriptions and reminds you before every renewal.
What Sbu Subscriptions does
Add your subscriptions and one figure sits at the top: what you spend a year, or a month. Other currencies are converted at the ECB reference rates included in the app.
Before every renewal you get a reminder with the day and the amount, at the time you choose. For free trials you see the days left and what you will pay after.
The calendar shows this month’s payments and what is left to pay. You can pause, cancel and resume a subscription without losing its history. When you want to cancel, the app takes you to the service’s site or to your App Store subscriptions.
There are also Home and Lock Screen widgets, Siri and Shortcuts, read-only shared lists through iCloud, and CSV export and import.
What it doesn’t do
It doesn’t read screenshots, bank statements or emails to find your subscriptions by itself. You add them, from a list of known services, or import them from a CSV. That is a choice: an app that never reads your banking documents can’t misuse them.
It doesn’t connect to your bank and has no account. If you need all that, Orbit may suit you.
Why it’s free
Sbu takes simple jobs your iPhone can already do and makes a free app for each one. Every app keeps six promises: no subscription, no in-app purchases, no account, no ads, no tracking, data only on your device. The code is public on GitHub.

Questions
Is Sbu Subscriptions really free?
Yes. It has no in-app purchases, no Plus or Pro version, no ads. Every feature is there for everyone.
Can I bring my subscriptions over from Orbit?
If you export a CSV from Orbit, or keep your subscriptions in a spreadsheet, Sbu Subscriptions imports them with Import CSV. You can also add them by hand from a list of known services.
What does Orbit do that Sbu Subscriptions doesn't?
Orbit reads subscriptions from screenshots and bank statements. Sbu Subscriptions doesn't, because it never reads your banking documents. You add them, or import them from CSV.
Where does my data go?
It stays on your iPhone. If you turn on Sync with iCloud, it goes to your own private iCloud, never to sbu.dev. No server, no account.
What's the catch?
There isn't one. Sbu makes free apps that do one thing, and the code is public so you can check. The project costs little and doesn't need to sell you anything.
