Bubble level online

Lay your phone on a surface and read the tilt. Stand it on an edge and it becomes a clinometer. It runs in your browser: nothing to install, nothing sent.

Questions

How does the online level work?

The page reads your phone’s accelerometer through the browser. Lying face up, it measures how far the surface is from horizontal; standing on an edge, it measures the angle of that edge.

How accurate is it?

It depends on your phone’s sensor, usually within a few tenths of a degree. For a better reading, lay it on a surface you know is level and tap Zero.

Nothing happens on my iPhone.

Safari asks before it gives a page the sensor. Tap Turn on the sensor and allow motion access.

Does the page save or send anything?

No. Readings stay in the browser and are gone when you close the page. The site uses no cookies or analytics.
